Ynja is passionate about art and creativity and has spent many years making artworks privately and as community projects with students at Oatley Public School. Most of the paintings have been sold at auction to raise funds for the school ground improvements. “Thumbs up for our ANZACS” was gifted to the RSL Oatley Branch to mark the schools Centenary in 2017.  It also coincided with the following year being 100 year since the end of WW1.

As an avid reader herself she is keen to foster an interest in young people to have a love for books.   She had made more than thirty reading snakes from upcycled men’s ties for the local school library.  The younger readers borrow a book along with a snake with the purpose to read to if for at least ten minutes every day.
