Margie Langtip

Illustrator

Margie was born in a small country town in South Gippsland, moving to the Dandenong area in her teenage years. Later she chose to move to Macclesfield in the beautiful Yarra Ranges, Victoria, to raise her two sons. She currently lives in Foster, South Gippsland with her husband, after living in the Yarra Ranges for 22 years.

Margie’s artistic inspiration comes from the Masters and many other Australian Artists such as Arthur Boyd, Streeton, Tom Roberts and her tutor, Kevin Boucher. She also get inspiration from being in nature, be it the bush or the ocean.

Margie has been tutored by Kevin for a number of years now, in oils and acrylics, however, she is self taught in Watercolour, practising daily with this medium for the past year.

Margie has a love of watercolours as she finds it an easy medium to set up and clean up albeit a frustrating medium to get used to. Her favourite medium though, is oils. She loves the creamy texture which allows for movement, blending and the super rich deep colours. She usually paints traditional art but does paint the odd abstract which allows her the freedom of slapping the paint on.

Margie is an emerging Australian artist and has a goal of becoming a great painter and to be able to sell her work regularly. Her studio at Foster will be opened several times throughout the year. She also wishes to become more immersed into the art scene of South Gippsland and to build up her business while striving for successful outcomes.

Margie is lucky enough to have a number of art collectors that feature her work on their walls.

She enters various exhibitions and shows and has received small prizes for her art. She also exhibits in her studio showing cards and paintings.
