Glen Smith

Glen has been heavily involved in the art culture of Ipswich for over 15 years and presently holds the position of President of ArtsConnect Ipswich Inc. where he promotes art and culture within the Ipswich region as well as assists artists and community groups in exhibiting work, doing workshops, raising funds and creating a better livable community.

 

He has been awarded Ipswich Citizen of the year (2021) and a Cultural Award at the 2018 Ipswich Australia Day awards.

 

He has been a finalist in the Aspire Gallery Art Awards, Morris Art Awards and The Pine Rivers Art Competition. He has had several champion painting awards at local shows, including 2018 Ipswich Show, he won the painting section at the Ipswich Art Awards in 2017, and has won several People’s Choice Awards including 2022 Ipswich Art Awards, St Sebastian’s Art Show Yeerongpilly, Boonah Arts Festival, Lockyer Valley Foothills Art Show, Ipswich City Council Meter Box Competition and ArtTime Gallery.

 

He was selected to have his artwork projected on St Mary’s Church in 2022 as part of the Ipswich Festival, has had three very successful solo exhibitions, numerous group exhibitions in both Ipswich and Brisbane, and in a career highlight, was selected as a finalist in the Qld Regional Art Awards in 2024.
